I'm back from schoolies, y'all. I got quite sunburned, drank way too much, met some really cool people, made out on the beach in the rain at 3am, surprisingly didn't get sick of my friends and really, really wish I was still there, because last week was seriously the best week of my life. Now it's back to the gaping black hole that is real life. Which begins with telling my manager that I need more hours. Yuck. Really do not want.

In other news: am writing The Fic That Will Not End omg. I totally remember why I avoid dialogue now. Once the characters start talking, they don't shut up.

I am unexplainably excited about the His Dark Materials movie, and I'm resisting the urge to abandon whatever it is I'm reading at the moment and reread the books. And, hello? Nicole Kidman. Win. So much win.

RL story for the week: we got our leavers jumpers on Thursday. On the back they have everyone's name and then your chosen nickname at the top. Usually they're very thorough in screening what gets put into the jumpers (eg your nickname has to be some form of your name, or whatever) but this year it was all pretty much student organised so all kinds of stuff got through. We have a pair of twins in our year, ditzy as anything and I pretty much can't stand to be in the same room as them. One of my friends asked me if I'd noticed that one of the twins had 'The Better Twin' put on the back of her jumper, to which I initially rolled my eyes. Only later in the day, I got to see it for myself.

What she actually had on the back of her jumper? 'The Beta Twin.' I laugh.

Because it was kind of personal. I can't really describe why, but this fic took a large part of me, more so than anything else I've ever written. And not in the way that you'd think. So. Kind of hard to explain.

I wrote this after an extremely long period of writer's block, and I was just happy with the way it turned out and so relieved omg to be writing again. Um, I was having formatting issues at the time, evidently.

I think I was on a special kind of crack when I wrote this, and I'd really like to get some more of whatever it was because there's just something about it that I've been trying to go back to and just haven't been able to tap into thus far. Plus, it was my first Bones fic.

This fic was just incredibly fun to write. It was slightly more lighthearted than a lot of the stuff I write and it was nice to take a break from all that. And who doesn't love George? Other than, you know. The people who don't.

I developed an uncanny attachment to this one the moment I started writing it and I've never figured out why. I like writing AUs way too much, probably. Um. No, I don't know why it's pink.
